I was also very unhappy with the extremely fast pace of the class. The presentation moved way, way too fast for me. I am sure I would have learned a lot more and would have been much more satisfied with the class if:
1. the presentation moved slower,
2. less material was covered,
3. we could have stopped from time to time to discuss questions rather than waiting untill the breaks.
I think the class just tries to do too much in the time available. |

| Mar 26 2009 - I thought Joel was an excellent speaker and teacher. I had 2 issues with the class. You weren't allowed to ask any questions during his presentation, which I think, when asking at the time makes it sink in a little easier. The second issue is that I've attended a lot of community ed and/or Senior Net classes. This is the first class that you received no handouts or notes for the class. You were given a workbook to look at during the class and if you wanted it, it cost $15. Naturally I bought it as it is indeed an excellent book. However, I think there are people that probably wouldn't be able to afford to purchase it. I believe you should get a notes handout when paying $55 for a class.

I found the smaller version difficult to read and the pages did not always match, also the examples were too small to read. I think if a person signs up for a class a book should be saved for them, and the person who did not sign up ahead of time should be given the lesser materials. |

It was quite apparent that Joel was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. The material was presented very quickly. I am glad that the manual was available for sale as a resource. (I think #3 above should be re-worded to read..."If you purchased a workbook...") All-in-all I think the class was a positive experience and worth the time and money spent. |

| Nov 2 2006 - Instructor had excellent speaking voice (projected and was clear). The presentation understable, and having a workbook to follow with was a good tool (prefer that than having to follow on student individual computer).
Having questions answered only at end of session is a good idea, allowing the instructor to cover more information in a consistent flow.

| Feb 13 2005 - Do to the room set up, it was difficult to see the screen at times...but I was able to follow along with the workbook. Joel was able to answer the many questions that were posed and was giving us lots of information. Because we didn't do "hands on" computer stuff, I wish that the lunch break would be replaced with a "working lunch" by letting participants know to bring a sandwich along. I would also like to have the chance to formulate a description of an item, even if it would be a group project, and then have time to evaluate and/or improve the skill with some "live assistance".
Overall, it was a good learning experience. Thanks.
